Four ways in, one portal, and the same programme quotas whichever route you take.

The ways in

Find the one that describes you. Each has its own requirements, and they are not cumulative.

  • Undergraduate (UTME)

    The ordinary route, for candidates coming from secondary school.

    • Five O'Level credits at not more than two sittings, including English Language and Mathematics
    • The subject credits your chosen programme asks for
    • A UTME score at or above the year's cut-off for that programme
    • The university's own post-UTME screening

  • Direct Entry

    For candidates already holding a qualification beyond O'Level.

    • The same five O'Level credits, including English Language and Mathematics
    • A National Diploma, NCE, A'Level or equivalent in a relevant field
    • Admission into 200 level, subject to the programme's quota

  • JUPEB Foundation

    A one-year foundation programme run by the university, leading to Direct Entry.

    • Five O'Level credits, including English Language and Mathematics
    • One year of full-time study on the Ugbowo campus
    • A JUPEB result at the point score your intended programme asks for

  • Postgraduate

    Taught masters, research masters and doctoral study, through the School of Postgraduate Studies.

    • A first degree of the required class from a recognised university
    • A research proposal, for the research degrees
    • Referees, and departmental interview where the programme requires one

The session

The academic year runs in two semesters. These are the points a candidate has to plan around.

  • March – June

    Applications open for the coming session

  • July – August

    Post-UTME screening, across both campuses

  • September

    Offers, acceptance and registration

  • October

    First semester begins

  • February

    Second semester begins

What it costs

The university publishes its schedule of charges with each session's offers. It is deliberately not restated here, because a figure on a web page that has gone stale is worse than no figure at all.

  • An acceptance fee, payable once an offer is made
  • Tuition and departmental charges, which vary by faculty
  • Accommodation, for students in the halls of residence
  • One-off charges at registration, matriculation and convocation

Bursaries, staged payment and a hardship fund exist so that admission and affordability stay two separate questions. The bursary answers questions about all three.
